Helma Leonhard-Strien has been with our firm for more than 40 years. After studying law in Rotterdam and Leiden, she worked as a lecturer at Erasmus University in Rotterdam. In 1983, she started as a candidate civil-law notary at the predecessor of our firm. She was appointed civil-law notary in 2000. Helma specialises in family law.
Since 2006, Helma has been a certified VMN mediator and MfN mediator. As a mediator, Helma assists many divorces, divorces and conflicts in estates.
Finally, she is one of the authors of the books "Notary and divorce", "Compendium Divorce" and "Compendium Cohabitation".
Helma: "Divorcing and settling an estate is a difficult and always emotionally charged process for the parties involved and those around them. Especially in cases where children are involved in a divorce or there are arguments between the heirs, tempers can get pretty heated. One wrong word, and the flame goes up in flames. If you can guide them in such a way that they do eventually reach solutions together in good consultation, it is a very rewarding task."
Although the law allowed Helma to continue as a notary for a while longer, she has decided to rearrange her life somewhat and free up more time for France, golf and just a good book.
With effect from 1 January 2024, she will no longer be a notary, but fortunately Helma will remain associated with our firm in another way.
She performs work in the estate practice such as settling estates and as a mediator in divorces, divorces and estates.
