If a person cannot properly look after their financial interests themselves, it is possible to establish a guardianship. Such a guardianship to protect someone from himself is called a protective guardianship.

Protective guardianship is instituted by the cantonal judge at the request of the person concerned, his partner or his blood relatives. It is not the person himself but his assets that are put under administration. The basis for the guardianship is the fact that the person in question "as a result of his physical or mental condition, profligacy or having problematic debts, is unable to fully perceive his property interests (read: his finances)".
An administration is published in the public receivership and administration register

If you want to bequeath something or donate something to someone, it is possible to put the inheritance or donation under guardianship by will or gift.
