The land registry is the department established by the government that maintains the public registers in respect of immovable property and registered boats and aircraft (registered property)

The land register registers and provides data on registered property in the Netherlands. That data is largely supplied by notaries. A requirement for transferring registered property and establishing mortgages and other limited rights is that a copy of the deed is registered with the land registry.

To locate a registered property, one often uses the cadastral designation, which consists of the name of the cadastral municipality, the letter of the section and the number of the plot, possibly supplemented by the flat index if the plot is split into flat rights.

If there is a dispute about the boundaries of a cadastral plot, the land surveying service of the cadastre can be asked to determine (new) boundaries. This is done either by following the actual property boundary or by plotting the cadastral boundaries in the land.
