Flat right

A flat right comprises two things. On the one hand, it comprises ownership of an undivided share in the entire building involved in the division (the community). On the other hand, it comprises an exclusive right of use in respect of part of that community. Think of a house, retail space or storage room.

As a flat owner, you are bound by the provisions contained in the deed of division building and you are a member of the association of owners by operation of law. The deed of division contains all the rights and obligations attached to the flat right.
